Leveling Stove Platform
We built a leveling stove platform so we can level our induction stove top when camping — even if we can't park on perfectly flat ground, or for a quick roadside lunch stop. Check out the video below to see how it works and how to build it!
Parts
| Item | Link |
|---|---|
| 3x Adjustable Right Angle L-Shape Brackets (M5 thread compatible) | Amazon (currently unavailable) |
| 3x M5 Ball Head Joints (needed since the platform angle changes relative to the brackets) | Amazon |
| 3x M5 10mm Clamping Knobs | Amazon |
| ABS Plastic Sheet, 1/4" thickness (enough for both the platform and base pieces) | Amazon |
Build Steps
- Cut the plastic sheets to size to fit your induction stove — you need two pieces (a base and a top platform).
- Attach the long side of each bracket to the base sheet — I used double-sided Gorilla tape, but you could also screw the brackets directly into your counter.
- Figure out the hole positions on the top platform sheet for the ball head joints to attach through.
- Install the ball head joints into the top platform, then thread the clamping knobs through the short side of each bracket and tighten them onto the ball head joints.
Notes
The knobs tighten enough to hold the stove level even with pots on it, and you can easily re-adjust by loosening them.
The knob handles could be slightly larger for comfort, but finding parts that all fit together is the tricky part — the bracket slots need to be the right size for the M5 thread (snug but not sloppy), and the ball heads and knobs need to be the right length and diameter to mate correctly.
